Call for BEA Student Media Club Chair

For over 60 years, the Broadcast Education Association has been an association of university professors and industry professionals who teach and prepare students for professions in broadcasting and related emerging technologies.
BEA seeks applicants for a Student Media Club Chair. The chair will be selected in April 2020. The 3-year term as chair is from May 2020 through April 2023. The incoming chair will begin working with the executive director and staff in May 2020 to learn the mechanics of the position.
Interested applicants should send:
- a letter expressing their interest in, ability and qualifications to manage, program and produce events and competitions for BEA Student Media Club members.
- a complete resume identifying previous experience, and
- a letter from appropriate administration officials (e.g., chair or dean) indicating institution’s commitment and support for the potential chair.
In addition, the chair should attend BEA’s annual convention each April.
During their term, chairs will receive complimentary BEA Individual Faculty Membership, Student Media Club Membership and BEA annual convention registration.
All application materials must be received by BEA Headquarters no later than March 27, 2020. Applicants should be available for an interview with the executive committee and/or executive director this April during BEA’s convention in Las Vegas. The executive committee will recommend a candidate to the BEA Board of Directors at their meeting in April 2020.

Duties include the following:
- The Student Media Club Chair works with the BEA staff and Board of Directors to produce an annual calendar of events for BEA’s Student Media Clubs.
- They will work with the staff to produce the Film-48 and Audio Stories Competitions. Those duties include creation of the annual guidelines and rules, managing the submission process, answering questions, recruiting reviewers, running the review process, notifying the winners and producing the session in Las Vegas.
- The Chair will work with the BEA staff to program any special events or sessions at BEA conventions or conferences.
- The Chair will send bi-annual reports to the BEA Board (for the spring and fall board meetings) with updates on activities, events and growth.
