Research is presented during paper competitions, graduate student showcases, convention sessions and as part of the convention’s Digital Research Presentations – BEA’s state of the art answer to the traditional poster session centrally located in the #BEAvegas exhibit hall.

Creative

BEA affirms that creative work that meets established criteria and is reviewed by recognized peers,  is important to the development of the field of electronic media and should be recognized as equal to scholarly publication in promotion and tenure review for faculty in the creative areas of the discipline.  #BEAvegas, screens selected works from the Festival, to showcase the quality of projects being done with in academia. #BEAvegas highlights the best of the best Monday night at our annual “Best of Festival of Media Arts”, where the top works are showcased in an formal event.

Hands-on Training is one of the things that makes #BEAvegas unique to other conferences. We offer a variety of training classes that cover both field and studio work. Our annual Assessment Bootcamp, is a half-day course geared to faculty and administrators who are interested in learning about, discussing, and developing plans for both programmatic and course assessment.

Industry Professionals

What sets BEA apart from other conferences is our ability to bring in numerous industry professionals. Each year you will find an assortment of people from the newsrooms to studio lots, and from research labs to corporate board rooms. BEA prides it self on being the intersection of academia and industry. Recent participants include Vince Gilligan, David Simon, Bruce Rosenblum, Bob Dotson, Frank Spotniz, David Mandel, and more…

Networking

We know how important networking is at a conference and opportunities are plentiful for faculty looking for advice on tenure and promotion or assessment tools, junior faculty looking to connect with senior scholars for research opportunities and professors interested in connecting with industry professionals. We have lounges and meeting rooms set up for attendees to gather meet new colleagues, catch up, or work on projects. Every night of the conference we conclude with a social event starting with our welcoming happy hour, continuing through our closing cocktails.
