Institutional Memberships

.Institutional Members consist of all colleges and/or universities that offer undergraduate and/or graduate electronic media courses and curricula.  Provides access to a collection of resources and engagement with an insightful group of peers.  In addition to offering added value to course students through our interest divisions, annual conventions and regional conferences, each year we offer new events, hands-on training, competitions and networking opportunities to enhance professional development.

Rates: Institutional Membership rates are based on the highest degree granted within your department.

All Memberships are based on the calendar year, January 1st  through December 31st.  The renewal process starts in mid-September each year. Dues are not pro-rated.
Institutional Memberships do not cover any Individual Memberships for Faculty or Staff.

FREE Undergraduate Student Membership – When you renew/join institutional membership, applicable for full-time undergraduate students only. When your membership becomes active, we’ll send a unique discount code.  Feel free to contact us if you need your student discount code. Please note: Free membership applies ONLY to full-time undergraduate students. Graduate Degree-Granting Institutions can upgrade their membership to include Free membership for graduate students for $200.

All Institutional Memberships now include A Free Collegiate Media Chapter and the following club activities:

BEA Film 48 – Invites BEA Collegiate Media Chapter to unleash their creativity for a 48-hour film festival taking place in October.
BEA Audio Shorts Competition – Invites BEA Collegiate Media Chapter Members to create compelling audio stories in 48-hours.

Discounted sponsorship, advertising and exhibit rates at the BEA annual convention which is co-located with the NAB Show in Las Vegas every April and other BEA Conferences & events.

BEA’s Classified host hundreds of jobs a year. Post your openings today at the discounted member rate, to get more and better-qualified applicants.  Let BEA help grow your department!

The BEA Festival of Media Arts – Each year students can submit their creative work and have it work reviewed and judged by industry professionals.  Winners are showcased at the BEA Annual Convention.  “BEST of Festival” winners receive $1,000.
– $40 per Student entry ($35 for students at two-year schools)
– $50 per Newscast entry

Scholarships – For both undergraduate and graduate students studying at BEA institutional member university/college are only eligible to apply.

RAB Student Scholars Program – Students can apply for and receive FREE registration to the BEA annual convention and NAB Show.

MMJ Program – Welcomes teams of undergraduate and graduate students with the task of reporting on BEA’s annual convention and NAB Show by using and infusing a variety of story-telling methods –text, audio, video, pictures and graphics (or infographics).

Grand Plans and Great Expectations
– Invites graduate students to submit their theses or dissertations in progress for this competitive digital poster session

Dr. Marjorie Yambor Signature Station – Awards are sponsored by BEA’s Student Media Advisors division.  The competition invites submissions of superior protocol and practices at student-run, faculty-advised college radio and television stations

Publications/Subscriptions: BEA publishes three journals and you also have access to one additional journal from Taylor & Francis:
Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media (JOBEM) – A quarterly, peer-reviewed publication.  Members receive free on-line access and may receive a hard-copy of the journal for an additional $25 per year..
Journal of Radio & Audio Media (JRAM) – A bi-annual, peer-reviewed publication – Members receive free on-line access and a hard-copy subscription is available for $14 each year and can be added to your membership.
Journal of Media Education (JoME) – A quarterly & peer-reviewed publication (only available online).

Taylor & Francis FREE journals  – Free On-Line access to  Historical Journal of Film, Radio and Television, Media History, Mass Communication and Society, & Visual Communication Quarterly 

BEA’s Online Membership Directory with over 2,000 faculty, colleges/universities and students.

E-Newsletters – Will keep you posted on deadlines & events, training opportunities, grants, scholarships, conventions, equipment & software manufacturers, multimedia and publishing organizations.  Make sure you receive our bi-monthly newsletters (on Tuesdays) – check your spam filters to “allow” emails.
