I am currently an associate professor of practice at the American University in Cairo in Cairo, Egypt and I’m seeking re-election to the BEA Board of Directors.
My involvement with BEA began in 2003 when I was a graduate student at Ohio University.
I’ve served as the vice chair and chair of the Curriculum, Assessment and Administration (CAA) division. Additionally, I have been active with the BEA Model Rubrics Project as well as the Assessment Bootcamp, both initiatives of the CAA division. I’m currently the district 8 board representation for BEA, the co-chair of social media for the International Division and one of the admins for the BEA Teaching Audio Production Facebook Group.
Over the past few years, I’ve consistently submitted student work for the BEA Media Festival of Arts. In 2014, one of my audio production students won the Best of Festival in the student audio category and last year we had several winners including six who traveled from Cairo to Las Vegas for the annual conference.
Several of my colleagues are also members of BEA and our department/university has had and continues to have an institutional membership.
Proudly, over the years I have submitted many panels that have been accepted for BEA’s conference in Las Vegas and I’ve attended the conference annually for the past 8 years. During this time, I’ve introduced non-BEA members to the organization, encouraged them to attend the conference and to become BEA members.
As the current board rep for District 8, I’ve
● initiated a Facebook page to share announcements.
● worked to ensure that BEA caters to an international membership.
● worked to increase both international individual and institutional memberships in BEA.
● extended invitations to collaborate on international initiatives with other organizations.
If given the opportunity to serve District 8 again, I will
● showcase the talents of the district membership.
● use social media to extend the visibility of the district.
