Like most of us, I have a long list of BEA involvements, but I’d like to do more. I have served as News Division chair twice—in 2009 and again in 2016-2017. Since 2003, I’ve been a regular convention panel organizer. I’ve also served on the Festival of Media Arts Advisory Committee. In addition, I’ve been chair of the Radio-Television Journalism (now Electronic News) division of AEJMC. But BEA is the most important organization I belong to, and I leave each convention with a toolbox full of information and advice that I can put to use as soon as I get back to campus. I had a 17-year career as a television journalist, and I’ve taught broadcast news at two different universities for 24 years. I hold a Ph.D. from the University of Southern Mississippi, and I’m currently Professor of Journalism at the University of Mississippi.

If you elect me as your district representative, I will listen, be objective and make sure your voice is heard on the board. BEA is a wonderful organization, but improvements can always be made. I promise to represent you and your concerns and ideas for making BEA even better.
