BEA2026 Spotlights

BEA attendees can plan their schedule by using Interest Division tracks, or by Convention Spotlights.  Spotlights are programmed session clusters focused on key topics and communities and are an added way to help registrants find and connect with colleagues and content. Each Spotlight functions as a “mini-conference,” by grouping together sessions around key themes shaping media, education, traditional research and creative scholarship.

AI Spotlight

The AI Spotlight focuses on the role of artificial intelligence in media and communication, including its impact on content, production, education, research, regulation, and society. Sessions examine both the opportunities and challenges AI presents from teaching, scholarly and professional perspectives.

Filmmaker Spotlight

The Filmmaker Spotlight groups sessions for students and educators focused on film production, storytelling, and teaching filmmaking, with attention to creative practice and professional preparation.

Podcaster Spotlight

The Podcaster Spotlight brings together sessions for students, educators, and practitioners focused on podcast production, storytelling, audience development, and teaching podcasting.

Student Spotlight

The Student Spotlight highlights the next generation of media creators, scholars, and professionals.  This Spotlight features student-led research, creative work, competitions, and panels.  It provides a dedicated space for student voices and connects students, educators and industry professionals.
