Appalachian State University’s Department of Communication seeks an Assistant Professor in Electronic Media/Broadcasting and Digital Journalism to begin August 2026.
We seek applicants who can effectively teach in the undergraduate Electronic Media/Broadcasting and Digital Journalism curriculum with a major focus on radio and audio production, and a secondary focus on audio news reporting or podcasting. Responsibilities may include teaching courses at App State’s Hickory campus. Other responsibilities include teaching departmental courses, advising students, maintaining a program of scholarly and/or creative activity, and participating in departmental, university, and professional service.
Essential duties include teaching three courses per semester, advising students, maintaining an active research program, and participating in departmental, university, and disciplinary service.

The Department of Communication offers majors in advertising, communication studies, digital journalism, electronic media/broadcasting, and public relations.
