On-Location | Creative Productions Submission Deadline

The On-Location Creative Work Competitions provide an opportunity for full-time faculty and students at colleges and universities to showcase their creative scholarship. Faculty work must have been completed in the past two years, and student work completed during the past year.

The Audio Competition allows faculty and students to showcase audio production skills for radio and/or websites. Entries can include, but are not limited to, the following types of submissions: air personality, comedy or drama, educational program, PSA, promo, or commercial, specialty program, multimedia sound design, or sound Engineering and Production:
The Documentary Competition showcases both short-form and long-form documentaries produced by faculty and students.
The Interactive Multimedia Competition recognizes excellence in content creation that demonstrates creativity and innovation in interactive media and emerging technology. “Interactive” refers to content that involves active participation by the intended audience, allowing the user to have some control over the engagement experience. Examples may include but are not limited to websites, kiosks, mobile apps, fixed media, or other projects. “Emerging Technologies” may include but are not limited to virtual, augmented or mixed reality; games; transmedia; geo apps; or other projects that employ emerging technologies and delivery systems in significant ways.
The Scriptwriting Competition gives faculty and student scriptwriters the chance to have their work reviewed and recognized by professionals and peers. Entries can include, but are not limited to, the following types of submissions: short subject/TV half-hour, half-hour single camera comedy, half hour multiple camera comedy, feature/TV hour, or Episodic Short.
The Video Competition provides an opportunity for faculty and students to showcase their video production work. Entries can include, but are not limited to, the following types of submissions: commercial or PSA, educational or Instructional, narrative, and long form promotional.
The News Competition awards outstanding work to faculty and student produced television and radio news reporting. Entries can include, but are not limited to, the following types of submissions: radio and television feature and hard news reporting, radio and television newscasts, television news anchor or weathercaster, and television news magazine.
The creative works competition is open to faculty and students who completed their entry while employed or enrolled full-time at a college or university. You do not need to be a BEA member to enter. Faculty winners are expected to attend the conference for the public screen of their work.
Submission fee: $25 per entry
