The Urban Electronic Media Award
With support from the Urban Communication Foundation, BEA presents the Urban Electronic Media Award. The $2,500 award is given to individuals, groups, organizations or institutions whose creative initiatives have enhanced the ability or performance of broadcast and electronic media to promote problem solving, increase civic engagement, or strengthen monitoring of the urban environment in metropolitan areas. The award will recognize significant and lasting contributions in urban communication. The recipient will also be recognized at the BEA2019 Awards Ceremony held in Las Vegas, NV at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort on Sunday, April 7, 2019. BEA encourages those whose are nominated to attend the BEA2019 Annual Convention April 6 – 9, 2019.
The Urban Communication Foundation promotes research that enhances our understanding of communication patterns in the urban environment and encourages collaboration between communication scholars, urban planners and policy makers. We support diverse research strategies, recognize noteworthy scholarship in this area and invite participation from all scholars and practitioners studying the various forms of urban communication. – Letter of nomination, not to exceed two pages, referencing initiatives that have enhanced the ability or performance of broadcast and electronic media to promote problem solving, increase civic engagement, or strengthen monitoring of the urban environment in metropolitan areas.
– The letter should include links to websites, creative work, a listing of publication(s), research or initiatives related to the award.
