BEA interest division<\/a> as a \u201cDebut\u201d or an \u201cOpen\u201d paper. \u201cDebut\u201d is open only to those who have never presented a paper at a BEA convention, and \u201cOpen\u201d if you have previously presented a paper at BEA.\u00a0 To help defray costs, 1st and 2nd place \u201cDebut\u201d winners receive $200 and $100 respectively. \u00a0Regardless of the number of authors, BEA will award one check to the individual who submitted the paper.<\/p>\u00a0<\/strong>Co-Sponsored Papers <\/strong>are encouraged. 2. Select an Interest Division\u2026<\/strong> Read the division descriptions and select the division to which you will submit your research. Papers may NOT be submitted to more than one division in the same year.

The BEA2023 Convention Spotlight is\u2026.. Retracing the Future<\/strong>
This year\u2019s convention spotlight concludes the three-year exploration of the future which invoked the following themes: Facing the Future (2021)<\/em>, Embracing the Future<\/em> (2022), and Retracing the Future<\/em> (2023). Retracing the Future<\/em> in BEA2023 encourages us to look forward and plan for a future that will continue to evolve at rapid pace \u2013 but it encourages us to do so while looking back into our history and understanding how we arrived at the present moment.\u00a0 Simultaneously engaging with the past, present, and future allows us move forward with purpose, intentionality, justice, and hope\u2026.and just the right amount of caution. What have we learned from the multiple social and other challenges we have face in the distant and recent past? How can we use what we have learned to inform creative solutions and opportunities? What new or tried-and-true instructional models and practices can be created, combined, or adapted to best meet our students\u2019 and our society\u2019s needs in the long term?\u00a0 What media models and practices will be most beneficial and effective for industry partners, practitioners, and the citizens of a democratic society? What should we bring back, update, or set aside? What should we do\/create\/teach now? BEA2023 stands firmly in the present, committed to a just and inclusive future, and highly aware of how our past has brought us to where we are now. By Retracing the Future<\/em>, BEA 2023 encourages us to take a 360-degree look into the past, present, and future of electronic media practices, education, and research.<\/p>Retracing the Future <\/strong>serves as a spotlight for the convention, but papers are not limited to this area of research.\u00a0 Papers should be submitted to the division that best fits that division\u2019s goals and objectives.\u00a0 Each division selects up to four papers for BEA2023 presentation and additional papers may be selected for the Scholar-to-Scholar digital research (poster) session.<\/p>Questions?
