BEA invites media related panel and program proposals from academics, students and professionals for presentation during BEA2027<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>DEADLINE: September 15, 2026<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n BEA2027, co-located with NAB Show, is an academic media convention with over 250 sessions on media pedagogy, collaborative networking events, hands-on technology workshops, research and creative scholarship and the Festival of Media Arts.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0Programming Opportunities (All sessions are one-hour in length)<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Proposals & Programming<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n BEA\u2019s Interest Divisions significantly shape the convention program.\u00a0 Interest Division leaders review, evaluate and rank the proposals and forward the recommendations to the convention planning team.<\/span><\/p>\n CLICK here for a full list of BEA interest divisions.<\/a><\/p>\n Every effort will be made to give each division several invited panel sessions, a competitive paper session and a division social activity or event. Program slots are competitive so if information is not provided in a complete and timely manner, those program slots may be assigned to other session proposals. If your panel does not reflect diversity on several levels, we ask that you revisit the submission and include additional participants as moderators and\/or respondents.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Introducing the BEA2027 Convention Spotlight: <\/strong>The AI Effect<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n Seeking Panels or Panelists Boards<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n BEA members have a variety of research and professional interests and expertise \u2013 and don\u2019t always have the contacts needed to fill a panel or know who to talk to offer themselves as a panelist.\u00a0 We encourage members to reach out and make new contacts for each convention by using the <\/span>\u201cPanelist Seeking Panels\u201d and \u201cPanels Seeking Panelists\u201d boards in Facebook.\u00a0<\/span><\/a> Please join the \u201cBEA Panel Seeking Panels & Panelists Board\u201d and post your panel idea to entice panelists or offer your area of expertise to a panel organizer.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n BEA\u2019s Panel Participation Policy<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In an effort to increase the diversity of content and representation at our convention, BEA asks that you limit the number of appearances you make during the convention.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Please also consider inviting new speakers (faculty and industry professionals) to participate in BEA\u2019s convention.\u00a0 We welcome all new voices, research and insights.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Division Chairs are to evaluate the eligibility of the participants in those proposals submitted to that division. The Program Chair shall determine participant eligibility across divisions once the proposals are submitted.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Convention Attendance<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Panel\/program participants MUST register for the convention.\u00a0 If you are a session organizer and\/or moderator, please encourage panelists to register.\u00a0 BEA\u2019s registration site opens in mid-November.\u00a0 If you have questions regarding the submission process, <\/span>please email the appropriate Interest Division chair.<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Note: The \u201cdiscounted member rate\u201d only applies to individual membership.\u00a0 If you are a BEA institutional member you do not receive the discounted registration.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Co-Sponsored Panels<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Co-sponsored proposals are encouraged. Co-sponsorship occurs when more than one division recommends a specific panel for inclusion in the program. No more than two (2) Interest Divisions will be listed for co-sponsorship on a particular session<\/span>.\u00a0 Panel producers must indicate each division being proposed as a co-sponsor on the \u201cReview your submission information\u201d page.\u00a0 Go to the bottom of the page and click on the green link that says \u201cAdd a co-Sponsor.\u201d<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Session Audio\/Visual Capabilities<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Take note that session rooms have projectors, panel mics, screens and laptops ONLY.\u00a0 If you have any other special AV requests (ie. handheld\/lavalier mics, etc.) please let us know by January 31. The general Wifi in the LVCC West Hall is not consistent.\u00a0 Please do not plan to stream videos or \u201cZoom\u201d in panel participants.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
