International Division Call for Papers

The International Division of the Broadcast Education Association calls for papers for possible presentation at the BEA 50th Annual Convention & Exhibition, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, April 21-23, 2005. The BEA 2005 convention theme is "Fifty Years of Excellence for Electronic Media Academics, Industry and Future Professionals."

Using APA style, papers should not exceed 30 double-spaced, typed/printed pages in length, including references and tables. Papers must be accompanied by an abstract not to exceed 200 words. Papers may address any topic related to the goals and mission of the International Division (see web site: http://beaweb.org/divisions/international/) , and should be submitted via e-mail attachment to Dr. Greg Pitts (gpitts@bradley.edu). The submission deadline is December 1, 2004. All submitters in the paper competition will be notified of their entry status by February 4, 2005.

The names and affiliations of all authors, the name, address and telephone number of the principal author, and the category (debut or open) to which the paper is submitted, should appear on the cover sheet only. Please do not include any name(s) on the title page, the abstract, or any of text pages. All papers will be blind peer-reviewed by a panel of distinguished judges, and ranked on content, style, and contribution to the goals and mission of the International Division.

Competitive papers are classified in two categories: debut and open. The debut category is for faculty, professionals and students who have never presented a paper at the BEA convention. The open category is for all others. The top two papers in both debut and open categories will receive recognition and are presented at the division's paper competition session at the BEA convention. In both categories, the top paper will receive a $200 cash award and the second-place paper will receive a $100 cash award. No paper can be submitted to more than one BEA interest division during the same year. For multiple authored papers, at least one author of an accepted competitive paper must attend the convention to present the paper. Additionally, the division may select papers for presentation in the Scholar-to-Scholar (poster) session. Authors may submit a printed hard copy of his/her competitive paper (3 copies), but e-mail is preferred. All papers should be sent to:
