The Research Division invites submission of original papers on
broadcasting and electronic media topics to be considered for
presentation at the 2003 BEA convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Blind review will be conducted
by three judges in two categories, DEBUT and OPEN. The debut category
is reserved for those who have never presented a paper to any
division at BEA, while the open entry is for all others. Coauthored
papers should be entered in the open category if any one of the
coauthors has presented at any previous BEA convention. The first
place winner of the debut competition will be awarded a $200 check;
the second place winner will receive a $100 check. There will
be no cash awards for the winners of the open competition. The
division reserves the right to make no awards of prize money in
the debut competition if, in the opinion of the judges, the quality
of papers is insufficient.
The following specifications
apply to all papers:
1. Preferred maximum length
is 25 pages.
2. Include an abstract of
no more than 75 words.
3. On a title page (and nowhere
else in the document) include the name, mailing address, phone
number and email address of the author to whom inquires about
the submission should be addressed. Also include the names of
coauthors as well as the category of submission on this page.
If no category is specified, the submission will be placed in
the "open" competition.
The manuscript's title should
be printed on the first page of the text and on running heads
on each page of the text, as well as on the title page. The second
page should contain only the title with an abstract.
4. Send four (4) typed or
printed copies of the paper. E-mail and fax submissions are not
acceptable. Authors may include a stamped, self-addressed envelop
for notification of receipt.
5. Papers should not be under
peer review by any other association or publication and should
be submitted to only one BEA interest group for evaluation. Papers
should not have been presented at any other convention (regional/national)
or published prior to presentation at the BEA convention.
6. Those papers selected will
be presented at the division's competitive research session at
the annual BEA convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. At least one author
of papers accepted must be at the convention to present.
