Las Vegas, Nevada

Deadline for Submissions: November 30, 2002 (COB)
The Research Division invites submission of original papers on broadcasting and electronic media topics to be considered for presentation at the 2003 BEA convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Blind review will be conducted by three judges in two categories, DEBUT and OPEN. The debut category is reserved for those who have never presented a paper to any division at BEA, while the open entry is for all others. Coauthored papers should be entered in the open category if any one of the coauthors has presented at any previous BEA convention. The first place winner of the debut competition will be awarded a $200 check; the second place winner will receive a $100 check. There will be no cash awards for the winners of the open competition. The division reserves the right to make no awards of prize money in the debut competition if, in the opinion of the judges, the quality of papers is insufficient.

The following specifications apply to all papers:

1. Preferred maximum length is 25 pages.

2. Include an abstract of no more than 75 words.

3. On a title page (and nowhere else in the document) include the name, mailing address, phone number and email address of the author to whom inquires about the submission should be addressed. Also include the names of coauthors as well as the category of submission on this page. If no category is specified, the submission will be placed in the "open" competition.

The manuscript's title should be printed on the first page of the text and on running heads on each page of the text, as well as on the title page. The second page should contain only the title with an abstract.

4. Send four (4) typed or printed copies of the paper. E-mail and fax submissions are not acceptable. Authors may include a stamped, self-addressed envelop for notification of receipt.

5. Papers should not be under peer review by any other association or publication and should be submitted to only one BEA interest group for evaluation. Papers should not have been presented at any other convention (regional/national) or published prior to presentation at the BEA convention.

6. Those papers selected will be presented at the division's competitive research session at the annual BEA convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. At least one author of papers accepted must be at the convention to present.
