BEA2003 Call for Papers
Communication Technology Division

The Communication Technology Division of the Broadcast Education Association invites submission of scholarly papers for potential presentation at the BEA Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 4-7, 2003. The Communication Technology Division is seeking papers that reflect the mission of the division, which is to keep members informed about the latest advances in communication technology including hardware, teaching and research and how these advances will affect broadcast education.

Papers submitted to this competition are classified in one of two categories, debut and open. The open category is for anyone, including faculty, professionals and students, who have presented papers at BEA in previous years. The debut category is applicable only for those authors who have not previously presented a paper at a BEA convention, or been published in a BEA publication. Two papers are traditionally recognized in each category. Prizes of $200 for first place and $100 for second place will be awarded in the Debut category. At least one author of an accepted competitive paper must attend the convention to present the paper.

Entries should not exceed 30 double-spaced pages in length, including references and tables. Please use APA style. Papers must be accompanied by an abstract not to exceed 250 words. All papers must be unpublished at the time of submission, and each paper may only be submitted to one interest division within BEA. The author's name, institution address, phone number and e-mail should appear on the cover page only. The cover page should also have the title of the paper and the division to which the paper is submitted, and whether it is an "open" or "debut" entry. Any papers without such designation will be considered in the open category. The title should be printed on the first page of the paper and on running heads on all subsequent pages. Three copies of the paper (without the cover page and abstract) must be submitted.

Deadline: Papers must be received by the end of business on Monday, December 2, 2002. The paper competition chair will acknowledge receipt of all submissions. The division intends to notify authors of the results of the judging by the beginning of February, 2003. All entries should be sent to:
