Call for BEA2002 Convention Student Interns

Broadcast Education Association (BEA) is accepting applications from undergraduate seniors and graduate commmunication majors to work as student interns at its annual national convention from Friday, April 5 to Sunday, April 8, 2002, in Las Vegas, NV. The BEA convention is held just prior to and in conjunction with the annual convention of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). More than 130,000 professional broadcasters, academicians, and students are expected to be attend these combined conventions.

Student interns will aid the BEA professional staff in the on-site operation of the convention. Intern responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Assisting at the BEA Registration booth
  • Assisting at the Placement Center and BEA Exhibits and Books area
  • Staffing the BEA on-site office (answering phones, etc.)
  • Setting up BEA signs outside convention rooms
  • Assisting panelists and notifying panel chairs of time to end session
  • Counting attendance at sessions
  • Taking tickets at Awards luncheon
  • Other duties as assigned
In return for carrying out these responsibilities student interns will receive free registration to attend the BEA and NAB conventions (NAB will be held April 8-13). This is a unique opportunity to meet and interact with a diverse group of media professionals and scholars. Interns will be responsible for securing their own travel, lodging, and meals, but they will receive a $250 stipend for their service to help defray their expenses. This stipend is made possible through a sponsorship by Patrick Communications, LLC, Shane Media Services and the Broadcast Education Association. We are looking for ten (10) serious broadcasting seniors and/or graduate students who are bright, eager, dependable, energetic, mature, and ready to work very hard for long hours. To be eligible, students must be enrolled full-time in a two-year or four-year program in communication/broadcasting studies, in their senior year or graduate program , and at least twenty-one years old.
