Lowell "Bud" Paxson, BEA2000 Keynote Speaker

The BEA Convention Luncheon, featuring keynote speaker Lowell "Bud" Paxson, chairman of Paxson Communications Corporation, will take place at the Las Vegas Hilton on Sunday, April 9, at 12:00 p.m. Approximately seven-hundred college and university professors from around the world will be in attendance for the luncheon. The BEA is honored to have such a respected and honored industry leader speak to attendees this year.

Mr. Paxson is a media industry pioneer whose broadcast career spans more than 40 years. Paxson's crowning achievement is the creation of PAX TV, the nation's seventh and newest broadcast television network, which launched on August 31, 1998. With its nationwide broadcast television and cable distribution system, including the nation's largest group of owned and operated television stations, Paxson airs PAX TV, the national family entertainment network. Along with founding the Home Shopping Network, Paxson has been the recipient of many awards in broadcasting. He is the recipient of 1997 Broadcaster of the Year Award presented by the Florida Association of Broadcasters; the NIMA International Lifetime Achievement Award (1997); the Northwood University Outstanding Business Leader Award (1998), and many others. Paxson took his company public in 1994, through a reverse merger with the American Network Group, Inc., and subsequently moved the new company, Paxson Communications Corporation to the American Stock Exchange.
