This session will highlight issues of relationship building in the community and student involvement. Attendees will learn principals of successful partnerships within the community and student engagement with service learning.\n<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.beaweb.org\/OL\/engaged-learning-and-community-involvement-speaker-bios\">Dr. Cristian Morosan<\/a>;\u00a0<\/strong><em><strong>Supervising Service Learning Activities and Projects<\/strong>\nDr. Morosan will present the opportunities and challenges of designing service-learning courses in partnership with business organizations. Such courses aim at enhancing students\u2019 problem-solving skills, in addition to creating and maintaining of a platform designed to facilitate the collaboration between students and industry professionals. The presentation will include a discussion of the ways to create the academic-industry synergies that are necessary to develop and sustain such courses.\n<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.beaweb.org\/OL\/engaged-learning-and-community-involvement-speaker-bios\">Dr. Jerrod Henderson<\/a>;<em> STEM Engagement through Mentoring<\/em><\/strong>\n<em>Dr. Henderson will describe the St. Elmo Brady STEM Academy, STEM Engagement through Mentoring intervention that he co-founded. This session will highlight issues of diversity awareness.
