NEW: Call for Wildlife Video, Film and Photography Projects and Presentations: Deadline: August 15

BEA and Colorado State University seek proposals for wildlife photography, film, and video projects, as well as proposals for talks on teaching techniques and creative research that examines the role of media related to wildlife and nature.

Accepted proposals and projects will be screened in the inaugural Donald and Lorena Meier Wildlife Photography Symposium on the first day of BEA’s On Location conference at Colorado State University. The Symposium will take place in CSU’s Lory Student Center on October 6. On-Location will run at CSU in Fort Collins, Colorado, from October 6-8, 2022.

Both Donald and Lorena Meier had distinguished media careers. Donald Meier was the creator and producer of Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom television series with Marlin Perkins as host.  Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom series ran in prime time from the 1960s to the 1980s. The Meiers also produced the Zoo Parade program, which featured animals from Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, along with  The Donald and Lorena Meier Foundation was established in 1977, and this Symposium is designed to advance the creative production-related educational role of media in the conservation of wildlife and habitat.

BEA and CSU seek video programs, films and photography collections that have been created within the last five years. Creative-focused teaching panels and research presentations also are considered.

Please provide a one-paragraph description of the project or academic panel you would like to present during the symposium, along with the names and associations of producers or speakers who will be involved. Presenters are expected to attend and to be available for discussion.
