{"id":7384,"date":"2026-04-21T17:03:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T17:03:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.beaweb.org\/JB\/?p=7384"},"modified":"2026-04-21T17:41:35","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T17:41:35","slug":"sports-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beaweb.org\/JB\/2026\/7384\/","title":{"rendered":"Sports Director"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nexstar.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com\/en-US\/nexstar\/job\/Anchor-III--Sports_REQ-41070?locationRegionStateProvince=745d76f06d2b41738aecee630c5888a0\">https:\/\/nexstar.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com\/en-US\/nexstar\/job\/Anchor-III&#8211;Sports_REQ-41070?locationRegionStateProvince=745d76f06d2b41738aecee630c5888a0<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Sports Director produces and anchors sports reports for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful to news consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Produces and presents sports reports for all platforms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensures that all sports content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Writes and delivers sports stories in a clear and concise manner<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assists in writing, copy editing, researching and coordinating sports programming and other content<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Responds to breaking sports events and other urgent newsrooms situations as required<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00a0Works closely with the sports team to develop comprehensive sports coverage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participates in promotional activities including public appearances<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Performs special projects and other duties as assigned<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shoots video for sports reports<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sets up, composes and executes video shots<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintains video equipment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Edits video clips for television broadcasts and eMedia content<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Writes stories for the website and other eMedia platforms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interacts with viewers and users on social media sites<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Requirements &amp; Skills:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Minimum five years&#8217; experience in sports reporting or anchoring<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comprehensive knowledge of sports and sports related activities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fluency in English<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00a0Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Superior on-air presence<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience guiding, directing and motivating others<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Valid driver&#8217;s license with a good driving record<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flexibility to work any shift<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>https:\/\/nexstar.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com\/en-US\/nexstar\/job\/Anchor-III&#8211;Sports_REQ-41070?locationRegionStateProvince=745d76f06d2b41738aecee630c5888a0 The Sports Director produces and anchors sports reports for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful to news consumers.
