Qubein School of Communication (NQSC) at High Point University invites applications for an open rank faculty position in Media Production with additional responsibilities as Studio Manager. The appointment begins in August 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This unique dual role position blends teaching in media production with operational and technical leadership of the School\u2019s state of the art 4K\/UHD television studios. The successful candidate will guide students in field and multi camera production, maintain a professional standard studio environment, and support the School\u2019s vibrant culture of hands on, high impact media creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a non tenure track, 11 month faculty appointment (August 1\u2013June 30) with a 1\/1 teaching load. Faculty at HPU are expected to demonstrate strong teaching, active professional\/creative development, and meaningful service to the department, school, university, and community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Teaching Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Teach courses in\u00a0field production,\u00a0multi\u2011camera studio production, and related media production areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teach introductory and advanced courses in video production and editing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain technical and creative currency, incorporating new technologies and industry practices into instruction.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support student learning in a collaborative, student\u2011centered environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advise students on academic planning, course selection and career development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Studio Management Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Oversee scheduling, daily operations, and maintenance of the NQSC UHD\/4K television studios and control rooms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Administer integrated production systems including: video switching, camera control, routing, playback, teleprompter, audio mixing, intercom, DMX\u2011controlled lighting, graphics, and related hardware\/software.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coordinate and support studio productions for faculty, classes, student organizations, and School\/University programming.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide technical support and troubleshooting to ensure smooth production workflows.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conduct tours, demonstrations, and showcases for prospective students, visitors, and stakeholders.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop and maintain studio policies, procedures, and safety protocols.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work flexible hours as needed, including some evenings and weekends.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Master\u2019s degree in Film, Broadcasting, Media Studies, or a closely related field.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated experience with multi\u2011camera studio systems and control room technologies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proficiency with Adobe Premiere and other Adobe Creative Cloud media tools.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to teach and mentor students at both introductory and advanced levels.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a team\u2011based environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Commitment to high\u2011quality teaching, professional growth, and university service.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Willingness to learn and adopt new production technologies as they evolve.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>University\u2011level teaching experience and a demonstrated student\u2011centered pedagogy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience managing studio facilities and coordinating complex video productions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A balanced combination of professional industry experience and academic engagement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiarity or experience with Virtual Production\/Augmented Production systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CONTRACT &amp; APPOINTMENT DETAILS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>11\u2011month appointment\u00a0(August 1\u2013June 30)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/1 teaching load\u00a0during fall and spring semesters (4 credits per semester)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eligible for\u00a0promotion\u00a0and\u00a0multi\u2011year renewable contract<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support and funding for professional development, creative work, or research activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>APPLICATION DEADLINE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Screening of applications will begin&nbsp;on March 2, 2026.
