Qubein School of Communication at High Point University invites applications for a Broadcast Engineer who will support all aspects of technical operations and media production within the school\u2019s studios and facilities. The successful candidate will ensure high-quality production environments, manage system maintenance, and provide technical leadership to faculty, staff, and students engaged in live and recorded productions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Broadcast Engineer will play an essential role in supporting the school\u2019s mission to provide hands-on, industry-standard production experiences for students and will have opportunities to contribute to the development of emerging media technologies and workflows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>TV Studio Support &amp; Maintenance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Maintain and troubleshoot studio production equipment, including switchers, servers, graphics systems, and robotic camera controls.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure smooth integration and interoperability of Ross Video systems within overall broadcast workflows.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate with the Studio Manager and Media Production Department to optimize technical workflows and promptly resolve in-studio technical issues.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitor and maintain broadcast signal quality and integrity across multiple distribution media.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on broadcast systems.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist in the setup and breakdown of production gear for live broadcasts and events.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Document technical procedures and maintain accurate system logs.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies related to broadcast engineering and Ross Video products.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop and coordinate studio equipment repair processes in cooperation with the NQSC Studio Manager.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Production Equipment Maintenance<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Repair and maintain field-production camera kits, including Canon HD &amp; UHD cameras, lenses, tripods, and audio equipment.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain LED lighting kits and grip support equipment (stands, C-stands, etc.).\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop and coordinate equipment repair processes in cooperation with the NQSC Equipment Room Manager.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facilities Maintenance<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Repair and maintain general-use media areas such as the NQSC podcasting studio, audio mixing rooms, and screening room.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Act as a liaison with HPU IT personnel regarding technical issues in the NQSC building.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Proven experience as a Broadcast Engineer, preferably in a live production environment.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with Ross Video production equipment and systems, including understanding of technical workflows and system architecture.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understanding of video over IP (SMPTE 2110 \/ NDI) standards and networking protocols.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge of audio engineering principles and audio signal flow.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent communication and teamwork skills.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Experience with additional broadcast automation systems (e.g., Blackmagic Design, Grass Valley, or Sony).\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certification or training related to Ross Video systems or other broadcast technologies.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with cloud-based production workflows such as Q-SYS and remote broadcast operations.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience working with LED video walls and virtual studio environments.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Basic knowledge of RF systems and transmission equipment.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with DMX-based lighting configurations.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Appointment Details<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a full-time, 12-month staff position reporting to the Department Chair of Media Production. The role requires occasional evening and weekend work to support live events and productions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About the Nido R. Qubein School of Communication<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NQSC is home to seven undergraduate majors\u2014Advertising, Public Relations &amp; Strategic Communication; Game Design; Multimedia Journalism; Media Production; Sports Media; Sport Management; and Social Media &amp; Digital Communication\u2014as well as the MA in Communication &amp; Business Leadership.
