This full-time non-tenure track position is a 9-month<br>appointment with a 3-year renewable term.<br><br>Qualified candidates will have relevant professional experience and ability to teach courses in at least one of these areas:<br>journalism (photojournalism, visual storytelling), film or media production, broadcasting, public relations, or advertising.<br>The position will carry a seven-course-per-year teaching load, either 4\/3 or 3\/4. At the Assistant Professor level, qualified<br>candidates will hold a Ph.D. in mass communication, communication, or a closely related field from an institutionally<br>accredited college or university. At the Instructor level, qualified candidates will hold a master\u2019s degree in mass<br>communication, communication, or a closely related field. Relevant teaching experience at the college level is preferred.<br>Successful candidates will be expected to participate in various service activities in the department and college<br>community. They must be committed to teaching excellence, student development and mentorship, and collegial<br>collaboration.<br><br>The Department of Communication and Media (CAM) is home to Samford\u2019s award-winning student media and hosts an<br>annual speaker forum in cooperation with The Washington Post. The department prepares students for careers in a<br>variety of professional fields, including journalism, advertising, public relations, and creative media. CAM is a vibrant<br>learning environment with a student-focused approach, and our faculty bring a rich combination of academic and<br>professional experience to the classroom. The department has a rich history and a reputation for its commitment to<br>preparing students to be thoughtful producers and consumers of media.
