WXOW-TV in beautiful La Crosse, Wisconsin is looking for an ambitious journalist who is passionate about local news to fill the role of news producer.If you have an eye for detail, consider yourself a spelling and grammar czar, and enjoy puzzles, this may be the perfect entry-level position for you. We are willing to train the right candidate, and our extensive on-boarding process will prepare you to succeed in this position. We strongly believe in cross-training, so you\u2019ll have the skills and confidence to excel as our early evening newscast producer, and a citizen of the newsroom. The ideal candidate will have excellent time management skills and must work well under deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Accuracy is valued above all else and a degree in journalism is preferred. Knowledge of AP Style is a must.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Responsibilities include:
\u25cfSearch for news content from multiple sources, including our affiliates, social media, and local sources
\u25cfWork with News Director, Anchors, Reporters and Meteorologists to execute content-driven newscasts
\u25cfAssign camera operations and on-camera reads
\u25cfFormat content to fit within our show template
\u25cfWrite creative and engaging stories
\u25cfWrite compelling headlines and teases
\u25cfCommunicate well with newsroom team
\u25cfUpdate our website and social media with new content daily
\u25cfManage breaking news
\u25cfMonitor emails and news releases
\u25cfAdd potential news stories to our day planner
\u25cfPerform other duties as assigned<\/p>\n\n\n\n
