Primary Responsibilities 
The Department of Mass Media invites applications for a full-time Instructor of Broadcast and Digital Media beginning Fall 2024. Successful candidates will have experience in all aspects of preproduction, production, and postproduction in broadcast, streaming, and online platforms.

The candidate will teach 12 credit hours per semester in courses such as studio production, live remote production, and corporate video, as well as digital applications such as mobile, interactive, and online storytelling. Additionally, the candidate will teach courses related to the Adobe Creative Suite and social media storytelling. The candidate receives a 3-credit hour release each semester to supervise student programming for SE-TV, the experiential learning component for TV/Film majors. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, student mentoring, participation in recruitment and retention activities, and department, college, and university service.
 
The Department of Mass Media is part of the Holland College of Arts and Media and one of only two Missouri programs accredited by the Accrediting Council for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government-certified university
  • At least five years of professional experience in studio, field, and digital video production, including directing and control room technology
  • Demonstrated understanding of digital media production and distribution channels, with experience producing digital content
  • Demonstrated ability to teach courses in live event production and television directing, with knowledge of videography and lighting design
  • Ability to teach courses in the core curriculum, such as Media and Society, Digital Media Production, Media Analytics, Media Diversity, and Media History
  • Demonstrated experience using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Demonstrated ability to teach courses in assorted teaching modalities (face-to-face, online) 
  • Experience mentoring or working closely with students 
  • Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with students, faculty, staff, and the community
