Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Media Arts at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#144040) in Video and Film Production at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2024.

The successful candidate is expected to teach various non-production aspects of the video and film industry, such as media writing, aesthetics, history, student success classes, and our introductory course, Introduction to Media and Entertainment. This position will also be expected to teach in our upcoming MFA in Film and Television course in Fall 2025. Tenure-track positions require emphasis and evidence of high scholarly activity (research and/or creative activity) and university service. The ability to teach in multiple delivery modes, including asynchronous, remote, synchronous, hybrid, and traditional on-ground instruction, is expected.

Required Education

A terminal degree in a closely related field is required by the appointment date.

Required Related Experience

Three years of teaching experience in higher education is required.
