Director of Professional Communication Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a Director of Professional Communication; this is a full-time Lecturer position to begin August 2024.

Responsibilities include coordination of professional development/continuing education courses and opportunities across the department (e.g., coordinating creation and assessment of certificate programs for nontraditional or non-degree students, coordination of events putting course-gained theory and knowledge into practice); collaboration with local and regional clients, industry partners, media organizations, and alumni; engagement with potential students (e.g., on- or off-campus visits with high schools); oversight of department social media accounts; and teaching 18 credit hours per academic year in courses based on the candidate’s expertise; course load is open for review. Potential course topics for teaching responsibilities can include but are not limited to serving as public information officers, fundraising and donor relations, special events, public relations and media writing, and/or working in corporate, nonprofit, or government sectors. Completion of at least 18 credits of graduate coursework in Communication, Journalism, Mass or Strategic Communication, Media Arts, or a related field by the date of appointment is required.

The Department of Communication, Media and Culture is one of Coastal Carolina University’s largest departments, serving over 450 students in Communication and Journalism & Sports Media majors; 100 students in communication, journalism, and health communication minors; and 25 graduate students in its Master of Arts program. Students contribute to student-run media and to media in the University’s Athletics programs and local community.
