The Department of Film/Media at the Harrington School of Communication and Media at the University of Rhode Island invites applicants for a tenure-line faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Film Production & Post-Production, to begin Fall 2024.

BASIC FUNCTION:

We seek a filmmaker and creative collaborator immersed in producing creative work and with expertise in technical skills, aesthetic sensibilities, and all-around production knowledge. The ideal candidate will have a focus on editing theory and practice and be able to teach current workflows and non-linear editing platforms such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid, DaVinci Resolve, and Pro Tools, After Effects, Logic Pro, VFX, Green Screen, Color Grading, and post-production sound mixing. Applicants must demonstrate a record of university teaching in production and post-production processes, established technical proficiency, as well as interest in course design and curriculum development. The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to develop a sustained creative filmmaking agenda with preference for the areas of social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI), and a solid record of achievement at film festivals or other distribution channels.
