The Eugene S. Pulliam School of Journalism and Creative Media in the College of Communication at Butler University invites applications for a nine-month tenure-track assistant professor in the Creative Media and Entertainment (CME) major with an expected start date of August 2024.  The successful candidate will teach classes video production and entertainment media creation.  A working knowledge of emerging visual and social media is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:- A terminal degree (MFA or PhD) in communication, media or related field completed(ABD considered) by May 2024Preferred Qualifications:While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:- Successful experience in one or more of the following: – working collaboratively with others (e.g., committee service, being part of a production team, co-teaching) – working independently (e.g., supervising a production, course development) – teaching and working with individuals of socially/culturally diverse communities- Producing, directing or working on narrative, documentary or entertainment visual projects- Teaching undergraduate film and/or media production courses- Creating effective media content- Provide a special emphasis on social justice lines of inquiry in teaching, creative, and/or scholarly activity- Professional experience as a filmmaker or in media production- Demonstrate a dynamic entrepreneurial initiative by connecting and collaborating with media industry professionals on the local, regional, and/or national levels- Record of participation in juried creative works- Record of a scholarly agenda in creative media and entertainment- Effective interpersonal communication skills- Effective oral communication skills- Effective classroom management skillsTo apply, candidates must submit: – A letter of application outlining qualifications, a teaching philosophy, and experience with/commitment to teaching a diverse student body- Curriculum vitae – Current teaching evaluations (if available) – Contact information for three references- A promising creative and/or scholarly agenda in television, film, video, and new emerging mediaAll materials must be submitted by September 25, 2023, to be considered.
