Job Title – MRTS Lecturer in Media Studies Job Description: The Department of Media Arts at the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for a 3-year Lecturer position in Media Studies (with the possibility of renewal) beginning August 2023. The area of expertise is open, but the department is especially interested in candidates with training in critical cultural studies approaches to digital media or gaming studies. The successful candidate will have a 4/4 teaching load consisting primarily of several sections of our introductory course, “Foundations of Media Arts,” and, depending on their areas of expertise, sections of existing intermediate courses, for example: “Digital Media and Society,” “Social Media Strategies,” “Perspectives on Video Games,” or “Understanding Media Industry Studies.” The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to expand our curriculum by developing advanced undergraduate courses and graduate courses in their area of expertise. Our goal is to add courses to our curriculum to better cover the various areas of Media Arts beyond film and television.
Minimum Qualifications
• Ph.D. in Media Studies or a comparable field.
Preferred Qualifications
• Training in critical cultural studies approaches to digital media or gaming studies.
• Evidence of commitment to diversity as demonstrated in research, or other scholarship and teaching materials.
• Interest in expanding the Media Arts curriculum.
• Teaching experience at the university level.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

The location within the DFW market offers numerous internship and part-time employment opportunities while students are pursuing their degrees. With more than 1300 undergraduate students, we are one of the largest and most active programs in the College of Arts and Sciences. Students have the opportunity to work for our local television news station, ntTV, or for the radio station, KNTU.
