Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate journalism, public relations, and advertising or media courses. Teach graduate courses in media and communication. Engage in a successful program of research that yields scholarly publications. Provide oversight to the journalism and public relations major, guide accreditation and assessment. Provide additional service to the school, university, college and discipline.
Minimum Qualifications: A terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D.) in Journalism/Mass Communication/Public Relations or closely related field such as advertising, communication or media, College-level teaching experience as instructor of record in journalism, public relations, advertising or a related area (e.g., video production, digital media). Teaching effectiveness and performance that meet the requirements of a tenured associate or full professor. Demonstrated teaching or research experience with emergent media such as data-driven journalism, social network analysis, interactive journalism, web development or digital story-telling. Demonstrated scholarly activity (e.g., published journal articles in peer reviewed journals, book chapters, scholarly books) sufficient to meet the requirements of a tenured associate or full professor.
Preferred Qualifications: Graduate level teaching experience in face-to-face environments. Teaching and research interests in Sport/Entertainment Journalism or Public Relations. Professional experience in emergent media such as data-driven journalism, social network analysis, interactive journalism, web development or digital story-telling. Experience as faculty member or administrator with an ACEJMC accredited unit. Experience in curriculum assessment.
