Nielsen Co. Awards $10,000 in Scholarships to BEA Student Members

Washington, D.C. – Nielsen Co. has given the Broadcast Education Association $10,000 to offer undergraduate and graduate scholarships to students studying any area of electronic media.

BEA will administer the selection of four Nielsen Scholarships, $2,500 to each student, which will be used during the 2015-2016 academic year. BEA exists to connect the electronic media world and the classroom and support faculty and students in research, creative endeavors and professional development and has been awarding scholarships to aspiring broadcasters since 1961. BEA scholarships are awarded to outstanding students for study on campuses that are BEA college and university members.

“It’s an honor to provide scholarships to electronic media students with the Nielsen brand,” said Heather Birks, Executive Director of the Broadcast Education Association. “We look forward to awarding four deserving students with a stamp of approval from the leading global information and measurement company.”

“Nielsen is delighted to join the Broadcast Education Association in supporting these scholarships, which provide much needed assistance to future leaders in the broadcast and media industries,” said Don Lowery, SVP, Corporate Reputation at Nielsen. “There is no more important investment in the future of our industry and media in general than preparing talented students for the challenges of the continually changing landscape they will encounter. We are deeply honored to be part of this wonderful program.”

BEA is awarding over $39,000 in scholarships for the 2015-2016 academic year. Applications will be accepted until October 14, 2014. Click here for more information.
