PETER SMYTH IS 2008 BAYLISS ROASTEE

 

Pacific Grove, CA - Nov. 28, 2007 - Peter Smyth, president and CEO of Massachusetts-based Greater Media, Inc., has been selected the "Roastee" for the Bayliss Broadcast Foundation’s annual Radio Roast, scheduled for April 2, 2008, at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.

Smyth, who is the 23rd radio-industry executive to be "dis-honored" by the Bayliss Foundation, started in radio at WROR-FM Boston in 1977. He later moved to parent company RKO General’s legendary WOR-FM and then went to work for Greater Media in 1986, starting as general manager of WMJX-FM Boston.

Smyth, who is the chair of the Radio Advertising Bureau’s board of directors, has won numerous awards from Radio Ink and was named that magazine’s 2007 Radio Executive of the Year. A past president of the New England Media Association, Smyth also serves on the board of the National Association of Broadcasters and is a member of the HD Digital Alliance Oversight Committee.

 

The Bayliss Radio Roast raises funds for the Foundation's radio scholarship and internship programs, which have awarded over $1 million to deserving college and university students and placed 100 students in summer broadcasting internships.
