303-352-4179. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Department of Speech Communication
seeks applicants for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in
Broadcasting. Teach four courses per semester from the courses in
broadcast production; broadcast performance and broadcast journalism.
Support the growth and development of the broadcasting concentration.
Maintain a successful relationship between Metro State's Broadcasting
Program and local Denver television and radio media that facilitates
hiring Metro State students for internships and employment. Demonstrate
commitment to professional development; advising and mentoring students
from a large, diverse urban population; and engaging in appropriate
professional service. A colleague in Communication Arts and Sciences is
expected to have a broad intellectual outlook, value the methodological
and theoretical diversity within the field, enjoy interdisciplinary

Qualifications: Master's Degree in Broadcast Communication or relevant
discipline, awarded by time contract is offered, plus five years
experience in the field of professional broadcasting such as
television/radio/video production; performance; or media writing.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Mass Communication or relevant
discipline; experience in course scheduling, faculty management and
course development. Ten or more years of successful professional
broadcast experience which may include digital media delivery
(podcasting, streaming media and webcasting technology) and the ability
to integrate current technologies in teaching. Demonstration of
effective teaching. Experience with non-traditional students, diverse
urban groups and ability to use appropriate educational technology are
also highly desirable. In particular, we seek candidates who demonstrate
the ability to teach from a perspective that includes U.S. ethnic
minorities, other marginalized groups, and/or women. Useful background
includes administrative experience and demonstrated experience in
working with diverse students in programs of recruitment and retention.
