The Journalism Department at Columbia College Chicago invites applications for a multimedia journalist and educator who is an accomplished practitioner and innovative thinker, for a tenure-track faculty appointment to begin Spring or Fall Semester 2011.

Columbia College Chicago is an urban institution of over 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students, emphasizing arts, media, and communications in a liberal arts setting and the Journalism Department seeks a candidate who will help our students become sophisticated and compassionate thinkers, writers, project architects, and leaders. Our department is committed to preparing students for success in the future of journalism. An individual with innovative ideas and a collaborative plan to implement them will be a welcome addition to our team. We want someone who can educate our students to report across multiple media platforms and help us adapt our curriculum wisely.

The person we select for this tenure-track position will have a distinguished professional background in reporting and writing. He or she will value the importance of storytelling across platforms and be able to work with faculty and students individually and in teams to foster entrepreneurship, creating interactive, imaginative and powerful stories across our curriculum. In addition to teaching, the tenure-track candidate will be required to advise and mentor students, serve the college and community, and remain active in the journalism field while pursuing creative, professional, and scholarly endeavors. Master's degree required. College-level teaching experience preferred.
